I've recently finished my 4th year of Law and Economics at Victoria University of Wellington, and am heading off to Sweden at the end of the year to be an exchange student at Uppsala University for semester one, 2020.
After taking an introductory coding course and using my new skills to build a website for a business I co-founded, I became fascinated by the creative problem solving and logical nature of coding, and the satisfaction that comes with building something from scratch to find a unique and elegant solution.
I dived in and am learning as much as possible, discovering React, Python, Javascript, SQL, Java, Node, C and more. From theoretical computer science to practical web development, I'm totally excited by the challenges and am driven to acquire as many skills as I can.
I’ve also been immersing myself in the tech community by attending women in tech meet ups and conferences, and an introduction to agile course.
I love looking towards the future possibilities offered through technology, and being able to take a part in shaping that future is definitely a motivation to keep learning. I’m particularly interested in the area of ethical programming and the need for all technological developments to be human centred in order to pay greater respect and consideration to the end users.
